Requirements:
My Digital Illustration class had the opportunity to design 60th anniversary windows for the Potter College of Arts and Letters at WKU. The theme was 'Sounds of the 60s' and we were challenged to create a design to represent the theme that would be installed as a vinyl piece to be presented on prominent windows outside the building. 5 design were chosen to be displayed.
Primary skills used during this project: Illustration, Branding Guidelines
Constraints:
Designing for the unique size of the window forced creative vertical design ideas.
Creating a unique design that is also cohesive with the other designs that could be chosen for the window. This involved a strict color palette and 60s vibe.
Decisions:
Featuring a record shape to emphasize music and art while warping the shapes to create a groovy 60s look.
Adding text to utilize the extra negative space and tie in WKU tradition to a celebratory throwback piece. (Life more life is a WKU motto)
